E3 2018 – Firewall: Zero Hour Launching ‘Very Soon’ With Nine Maps

During a YouTube Live at E3 interview today, Geoff Keighley spoke to Adam Orth from First Contact about his studio’s big upcoming PSVR-exclusive shooter, Firewall: Zero Hour. Orth discussed the design inspirations for the game, how it played with both the PS Aim Controller and DualShock 4, as well as the game’s content.

Reportedly, Firewall will launch with a total of nine maps. We’ve only seen two during demo sessions (a house in a large field and a shipping warehouse) so we’re eager to find out what the remaining seven locations are like. Those nine maps will be spread across three geographical regions, ranging from the Soviet Union and Great Britain to the Middle East.

Additionally, there will be 12 different contractors to pick from that each have a wide range of abilities to level up and customize. Orth also alludes to “tons” of guns and gear customization options.

Finally, near the end of the interview, Keighley asks Orth when Firewall is releasing and after a pause, Orth simply replies “very soon” without adding more. Hopefully that means a release coming this summer. Or if we’re lucky, maybe it will launch this week during E3.

E3 2018: The Elder Scrolls: Blades Coming To VR Headsets

There’s a new Elder Scrolls game on the way to VR headsets and other platforms.

Bethesda just announced The Elder Scrolls: Blades, a new adventure in the beloved fantasy series that’s unlike any other entry before. For starters, the game is coming to mobile and high-end VR headsets as well as traditional platforms like iOS.

Blades is made up of procedurally generated dungeons that you can tackle in different modes including a story-based version. We saw a bit of gameplay and it looked like a visually rich experience that’s quite similar to Skyrim (which hit VR last year). It will have cross-play support.

The game’s coming later this year for free. We have a lot more to learn about it so stay tuned.

E3 2018: Bethesda Brings Prey And Wolfenstein To VR

Bethesda has just announced Prey and at its E3 2018 press conference in LA.

Prey’s content will include an online option in which players face off with each other in teams. There will also be single-player content. A Bethesda blog sheds a bit more light:

Included with Prey: Mooncrash as a free multiplayer update, Typhon Hunter is a deadly game of cat and mouse, except in this instance the cat is sometimes a trashcan or a bottle of cleaning supplies and the mouse has a shotgun. This new competitive VR mode pits Morgan Yu against mimics that will stalk, hunt and hide in plain sight as they try to take Yu down. (Typhon Hunter will also be available outside of VR.) Typhon Hunter will be available later this summer as part of the Mooncrash DLC or in the Prey: Digital Deluxe.

Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, meanwhile, is an entirely new experience in which you play as a hacker. It’s coming in 2019.

The Resistance has upped its tech game in the two decades since the events of Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot drops you into the role of a resistance hacker on a mission to tear apart the Nazi forces in Paris using their own machines. Take control of a fire-breathing Panzerhund and more as you fight Nazis in the City of Love in order to aid the French resistance. Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot will be available as a standalone VR game in 2019. Saddle up, Cyberpilot. You’re one of us now.

Both games are on display at E3 this week, though we won’t know platforms they’ll be on just yet.

This is far from Bethesda’s first VR project. Last year the studio released versions of Fallout 4 and Skyrim for headsets as well as a new Doom game
